The 9th anniversary of the tragic death of eleven members of the Aviation Brigade was marked by laying flowers at the Memorial in front of the Aviation Brigade Command in the military barracks ‘Strasho Pindzur’ in Petrovec, and at the crash site in Blace – Katlanovo.
Besides family members, respect to the fallen soldiers was also given by delegations from the Cabinet of the President of Republic of Macedonia, the Ministry of Defence led by Minister Zoran Jolevski, the ARM General Staff led by ARM Deputy Chief of General Staff, Major-General Muhamet Racaj, the Joint Operations Command, the Aviation Brigade and the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade.
In the helicopter crash at Blace-Katlanovo, returning from the peacekeeping mission ALTEA, Lieutenant Colonel Toni Spasovski, Major Goran Ristovski, Captains Brane Spasovski and Igor Gjoreski, Master Sergeants Slavcho Vasilev and Toni Davitkovski, Staff Sergeants Janko Shirikj, Miki Ivanovski, Aleksandar Taskovski and Aleksandar Vasikj and Corporal Zlatko Veljanovski lost their lives.
Respect to the fallen ARM members was also shown in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where our peacekeepers, who served in the ALTEA mission, boarded their last flight.
