Today, at the site of the helicopter crash at Blace, Katlanovo and at barracks “NH Strasho Pindjur” in Petrovec, fresh flowers were laid, commemorating the eleven members of the Air Brigade (ABde) of ARM, who tragically died in the crash eleven years ago.
At the Memorial, respect for the soldiers gave a delegation of the Ministry of Defence, led by the Deputy Minister of Defence Bekim Maksuti, General Staff of ARM delegation, led by ARM GS Director, Major General Zoran Mileski, delegations of the Joint Operations Command, the Air Force Brigade, the 1st Mechanised Infantry Brigade and Petrovec municipality, as well as the family members of the soldiers.
Respect to the fallen soldiers was also given by delegations of the Joint Operations Command and the Air Brigade with one minute silence, and fresh flowers were also laid at the Memorial and in front of the ABde Command in barracks “NH Strasho Pindjur” in Petrovec.
The anniversary of the helicopter crash will also be marked at Camp Butmir, Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where our peacekeepers were deployed on the mission “ALTEA”.
The helicopter Mi-17 crashed on 12th January 2008 near Blace, Katlanovo and on board returning back to Macedonia were Lieutenant Colonel Toni Spasovski, Major Goran Ristovski, Captains Brane Spasovski and Igor Gjoreski, Master Sergeants Slavcho Vasilev and Toni Davitkovski, Staff Sergeants Janko Shirikj and Aleksandar Taskovski, Sergeants Miki Ivanovski and Aleksandar Vasikj and Corporal Zlatko Veljanovski.
