Under the motto “Stronger Together in Harmony of Sounds”, the traditional pre-New Year concert of the Army’s Military Orchestra was held last night at the Macedonian Philharmonic in Skopje, this time enriched by the participation of musicians from the Central Orchestra of the Romanian Armed Forces.
Following the reception of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, and the intonation of the national anthems of Romania and North Macedonia, the joint orchestra, conducted by Major Catalin Ion of the Romanian Armed Forces, opened the concert with a ceremonial fanfare, followed by a well-known Romanian love theme. The first part concluded with a popular medley of global hits arranged for a wind orchestra and the composition “Concert Celebration”, featuring motifs inspired by the Romanian musical landscape.
Following that, under the baton of the conductor of the Army’s Military Orchestra, Lieutenant Colonel Goran Ilijevski, a block of compositions from the Macedonian musical heritage followed, encompassing folkloric themes, traditional songs, as well as timeless Macedonian popular evergreens.
The third and final segment was dedicated to Army personnel always ready to defend the homeland and assist fellow citizens. In addition to world-famous New-Year theme compositions, the Macedonian composition “Our Army” was also performed. This composition represents a powerful musical tribute to dedication and service to the homeland.
Besides the President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, the traditional musical spectacle was attended by the Minister of Defense, Vlado Misajlovski; the Army Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski; Ministers of the Government; Members of the Parliament of the Republic of North Macedonia; representatives of the diplomatic and military-diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of North Macedonia; active and retired Army Generals; members of the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff and Army commands and other guests.
The motto of the traditional pre-New Year concert stands as further proof of unity with the allies. Through the harmony of sounds and the universal language of music, last night’s event emphasized that music continues to unite and bring us together, connects people around shared values and aspirations, and serves as a bridge between different cultures and traditions.
