A delegation from the US Federal State of Vermont National Guard, led by the Commander, Major General Gregory Knight, as part of a several-day official visit to the Republic of North Macedonia, visited the “Jane Sandanski” barracks in Shtip today, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski.
The two generals Sashko Lafchiski and Gregory Knight together with the Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Besnik Emini, were briefed on the planned activities and the overall readiness for the upcoming exercises “Immediate Response 25” and “Saber Junction 25” by the Deputy Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade (1stInfBde), Colonel Stevan Naumovski and the Commander of the 2nd Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Sumrachki.
During today’s visit, General Knight awarded medals to members of the Engineer Battalion within the 1st InfBde for interoperability and commitment to upgrade and improve the capacities of the Army Training Area “Krivolak” alongside the engineers from the Vermont NG during the exercise “Resolute Castle 24”.
The generals Lafchiski and Knight also discussed the excellent and useful cooperation so far, and they both confirmed their commitment for its intensification in the future.
During his official visit, the Commander of the NG, Major General Gregory Knight, attended the central ceremony marking the Army Day in Ohrid, at which General Lafchiski was appointed the Chief of the General Staff. Prior to the event, the General had a meeting with the Defense Minister Vlado Misajlovski and a joint visit to the Army Cyber Operation Center.
