A delegation of the ARM headed by the Chief of GS of ARM Lieutenant General Gorancho Koteski is paying a two-day official visit to the Armed Forces (AF) of the Kingdom of Spain. Today, the CGS of ARM was greeted with a military arrival ceremony by the Chief of AF of the Kingdom of Spain, General Admiral Fernando Sanchez Garcia.
This is the first official visit of the CGS of ARM to the AF of the Kingdom of Spain. They talked about improving the bilateral defense cooperation and army transformation as well as their experience in NATO and EU led peacekeeping missions. Furthermore, they talked about extending the cooperation in the military education such as ARM personnel to use the Spanish military training centers. General Koteski confirmed the importance of the cooperation between the two countries in the country’s way to Euro-Atlantic integration. Moreover, he said that as a possible form of extended military cooperation can be the use of the Army Training Area “Krivolak” for joint military exercises. Another one could be exchanging experiences in military planning and Counter – IED Training.
During his visit, General Koteski will visit the NATO C-IED Center and the Air Defense Operations Center including familiarization with the mission and assignments of the Parachute Brigade of the Spanish AF.
The bilateral defense cooperation between Macedonia and Spain was established in October 2009 by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation by both ministries of defense. Their cooperation has been going on in the last three years in the following areas: military education, foreign language training, pre-deployment key specialty training and training for radio-navigation devices check-up in the air defense.
