General Gjurchinovski’s visit to the Republic of Albania confirmed the dedication for continuous improvement of military cooperation at the meetings on the highest level.
The Chief of General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, is conducting an official visit to the Republic of Albania. During his visit he had meetings on the highest military and state level in Tirana today, when he talked about mutual military cooperation.
General Gjurchinovski was given a welcome ceremony with high military honors at the General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces and at the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Albania. Afterwards, he had separate meetings with his host, The Chief of General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Arben Kingji, and the Albanian Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi.
At the meeting of the two Chiefs of Staff, a few topics were discussed including, improvement of the military cooperation through conducting joint activities, participation in international operations, current security challenges, lessons learned from the current security challenges caused by the aggression in Ukraine, and utilizing the army capacities which are available to both countries.
At their meeting, General Gjurchinovski and the Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi talked about the improvement of mutual military cooperation which is an important factor on regional level and beyond.
General Gjurchinovski emphasized the role the mutual military cooperation plays in strengthening regional security and beyond by our participation in NATO activities and our contribution to NATO activities especially for NATO enhanced Forward Presence. In addition, he declared Macedonian dedication to continuous improvement of the cooperation.
After his meetings at the General Staff of the Albanian Army and at the Ministry of Defense of Albania, General Gjurchinovski will meet the President of Albania, Bajram Begaj.
The military delegation also visited the Land Forced Command where they met with the Commandant, Brigadier General Ilir Xhebexhia. At the same time they were familiarized with the mission, tasks and the capacities of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Albania. After the meeting, the delegation saw a demonstration of part of the armament, equipment and military vehicles of the Light Infantry Battalion Group.
The Army of the Republic of North Macedonia has had a continuous good cooperation with the Land Forces of the Republic of Albania which excels in joint training and military exercises. In addition, mutual military cooperation also exists within the Adriatic Charter and the Balkan CHOD Forum. Moreover, a unit from the Armed Forces of Albania will participate in the upcoming military exercise “Immediate Response 23” which will take place at the Training Area Krivolak and will be the biggest military exercise in the Republic of North Macedonia this year.
