The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, accompanied by the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, visited the Army service members, who are engaged in extinguishing fires in the area of Pepelishte, near Negotino, one of the critically affected areas in the country.
President Siljanovska Davkova was informed about the activities undertaken by the Army in support of all involved entities in extinguishing fires on the ground and from the air, as well as about the current situation on the ground.
During the tour of the burned areas in the vicinity of Pepelishte and Krivolak, the President was familiarized with the engaged army capacities, the areas and the methods of engagement, as well as with the coordination and obligations of the Army with the other entities in localizing the fires in this area.
The President expressed her gratitude to all Army service members, who were professionally and devotedly engaged in dealing with the fires.
During the past two days, in accordance with the declared state of emergency and the Decision of the President, hundreds of Army service members from the 2nd Infantry Battalion and two helicopters and personnel from the Air Force WING, in coordination with the competent authorities, have been engaged in extinguishing fires at several locations on Serta Mountain.
