The President of Republic of Macedonia and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Dr. Gjorge Ivanov, accompanied by the ARM Chief of GS, Major General Vasko Gjurchinovski visited the members of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia at the barracks “Chede Filipovski – Dame” in Kichevo, on the first day of 2019.
At today’s traditional visit of the ARM units, the President Ivanov congratulated the New Year via video-conference to the members of ARM who are on missions in Afghanistan, Lebanon and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to the members deployed to the south border.
During the visit, the President Ivanov was informed by the Commander of the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Boro Latkoski, about the current conditions, mission and tasks of this unit, part of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade.
In his statement for the media, the President Ivanov said: “We expect this year to be successful for the Army i.e. to become member of NATO, to get the invitation and Macedonia to become member of NATO.”
Traditionally, the Supreme Commander donated a TV to the units in the barracks, and at the end of the visit, accompanied by the ARM Generals he had lunch with the soldiers.
