In a public meeting between the Chief of the ARM General Staff, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski and the Brigadier General Percy Hurtado, current Deputy Director for Plans, Policy and Strategy at US European Command (EUCOM) both sides expressed their satisfaction from the level of previous cooperation between the ARM and EUCOM.
In this meeting, which was also attended by the US Defense Attaché and a representative of the US Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) in the Republic of Macedonia, activities planned for this year, through the EUCOM cooperation programs, were discussed.
The overall program for military cooperation between the ARM, EUCOM and the Vermont National Guard began in 1995, and since, over 700 activities involving more than 7000 people from both countries, have been accomplished.
This year, apart from the planned activities from the International Military Education and Training (IMET) program for training ARM members in the US, joint participation in several international military exercises with our members and units has also been planned.
During his visit, Brigadier General Percy Hurtado also visited the Joint Operational Command (JOC), where a presentation was given on the mission and structure of the JOC, as well as the ARM participation in peacekeeping operations.
