The President of the Republic of Macedonia and Supreme ARM Commander, Gjorge Ivanov, accompanied by ARM Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski, today visited ARM servicemen engaged on the southern border region of Gevgelija.
At the briefing held in the Operative center President Ivanov was informed about the current security situation in this part of the state border, the attempts for illegal state border crossings in the recent period as well as about the current measures and procedures applied by ARM according to the assigned tasks in preventing the illegal crossings of the southern border.
After the briefing the Supreme ARM Commander together with ARM generals toured the engaged ARM forces that perform tasks in the area of border stone 59 on the Macedonian Greek border. The Joint Operations Command Commander Brigadier General Zoran Mileski and First Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski informed ARM Supreme Commander about the recent activities, about the engaged power and assets as well as about the future action plans.
General Mileski stressed that ARM has developed more operational engaging plans for the southern border depending on the situation and remains ready in its maximum for protection against any form of security threat of territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Macedonia.
The measures ARM conducts according to the assigned tasks by the decision of the President of the Republic of Macedonia and ARM Supreme Commander Gjorge Ivanov, for enhanced and continuous protection of the southern and northern borders helping the Ministry of interior and border police, are guarantee in maintaining the safety of our country citizens especially preventing tens of thousands of attempts at illegal entry into the territory of our country since the beginning of the migrant crisis.
At the end President Ivanov once again expressed the recognition to ARM servicemen for so far successfully facing the challenges regarding the migrant crisis and pointed it as an example other security structures in the region should follow.
