Under the slogan “Stronger Together in the Harmony of the Sounds”, the members of the Orchestra of the Army with musicians from the Orchestras of the Armed Forces of France, Hungary, Italy and the USA, under the baton of Lieutenant Colonel Goran Ilijevski, held the traditional New Year’s Eve concert yesterday evening at the Macedonian Philharmonic.
After the national anthem was played, the audience in the hall had the opportunity to hear a synchronized performance of several songs by Macedonian composers and composers from around the world. The concert of the military orchestras from the allied countries, as well as from the countries in the region and beyond, has grown into a project within the framework of inter-army cooperation, which has traditionally been performed for several years before New Year’s Eve or another national holiday, representing the strong partnership and the lasting bonds of friendship and cooperation.
The New Year’s Concert was attended by the President and Commander-in-Chief Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, the Minister of Defence Vlado Misajlovski, the Chief of the General Staff of the Army Major General Sashko Lafchiski, Ministers in the Government, Members of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, representatives of the diplomatic and military-diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of North Macedonia, active and retired Generals of the Army, members of the Ministry of Defence, the General Staff and the Commands of the Army and other guests.
The Military Orchestra of the Army has performed numerous concerts, many of them in different cities in our country. Particularly notable were the performances of the Military Orchestras of the Armies of the Republic of North Macedonia, Albania, Croatia and Slovenia in 2023; the performance with the Military Orchestra of the Armed Forces of Albania on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Army; the trilateral New Year’s Eve concert with the Military Orchestras of Albania and Croatia in 2019, which also included the joint concert of five military orchestras as part of the activities to mark the “NATO Week” when the U.S. Army Europe Band and Chorus and the orchestras of Greece, Slovenia and the United Kingdom had their performances; then, the trilateral concert in 2018 with the military orchestras of the Armed Forces of Bulgaria and the Army of Montenegro, and even earlier, they also had a notable performance with the Military Orchestra of the Republic of Turkey in 2014.
