A ceremony was held today at the “Boro Menkov” barracks in Kumanovo on the occasion of the handover of the duty Commander of the Operations Command (OC). Based on the Decrees of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Army, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, the duty of Commander of the OC was taken over by Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski from Brigadier General Besnik Emini.
Brigadier General Gjorgoski has so far served as Chief of Staff in the Operations Command, and from now on he will lead the largest operational command in the Army, while Brigadier General Besnik Emini, who has held this position since June 2021, will in the future serve as State Advisor for Policy and Planning in the Directorate for Policy and Planning, Crisis Management and Civil-Military Cooperation in the Ministry of Defence.
In his address, the Army Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, emphasized that being at the head of this Command, which occupies the most important place in the defence of the sovereignty and integrity of the homeland, is a real challenge, a huge privilege and honour, but also a huge responsibility. He expressed gratitude to the outgoing commander for his dedicated and professional service and management of the Command, while expressing confidence that the incoming Commander, with his experience and military career, will continue to successfully lead the Command.
In his speech, General Emini expressed gratitude to the service personnel of the OC for their high professionalism, effort, commitment and results, which made him a proud commander. The general also expressed gratitude for the professional cooperation so far to the General Staff of the Army, the Ministry of Defence, the accredited attachés of NATO countries and the US Office of Defense Cooperation. Addressing the the OC personnel, he urged them to continue with the successful performance of their obligations and tasks, because only with honest dedication, personal integrity and courage can they successfully contribute to building the image of a modern warrior of our Army.
The incoming Commander, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, in his address expressed gratitude for the trust given to him to lead the Command. He acknowledged the outgoing commander for his demonstrated leadership, commanding skills and transferring his experience to the younger ones with whom he had direct cooperation several times during his work. In his address, General Gjorgoski announced some of the upcoming priority tasks, including the modernization of the Army, which is the largest in the history of our Army and requires maximum engagement, in which he will use all his capacity and knowledge.
Today’s ceremony was attended by the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, the Director of the General Staff, Brigadier General Orce Jordev, generals in the Army, retired generals, former commanders of the Command, the Commander of the South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG), the military-diplomatic corps, mayors from the area of responsibility, representatives of local self-government and other guests.
