Army members are active at the most critical points in dealing with fires. The helicopters from the WING air force, which were engaged yesterday in extinguishing the fire in the area of Staro Nagorichane, where they threw more than 50 tons of water, have been engaged in the fire near Kochani since the early morning hours, and from 04:00 two helicopters participate in extinguishing the fire and bringing it under control, while at the same time another helicopter is fully ready for engagement. At the same time, another thousand Army members are present in the barracks in full readiness for engagement, who in case of need will be immediately engaged.
This was said at the morning emergency meeting between Minister Shekjerinska and the Chief of General Staff Gjurchinovski and the army leadership, regarding the coordination of the Army’s participation in dealing with fires.
Yesterday evening, following an order issued by the President of the Republic of North Macedonia and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Stevo Pendarovski, the Chief of General Staff of the Army issued an order to engage all necessary Army capacities to deal with present fires in the Republic.
The Army members, in coordination with all involved entities, started a coordinated and directed engagement by hiring the required number of personnel and resources, whereby in the late evening hundreds of army members joined in extinguishing the fire near Kochani, while from the early morning army members joined in extinguishing the active fire in the area of Delchevo and Pehchevo.
