The members of the Aviation Brigade (AB), part of the Joint Operations Command (JOC), marked June 10- the Day of the unit with a military ceremony held at the Strasho Pindjur barracks in Petrovec.
The brigade commander, Colonel Robert Malezanski emphasized that the members of the unit, with their work, professional attitude, loyalty and responsibility in carrying out their assigned tasks, showed that it is a highly organized and functional unit that achieves respectful results.
Commander of the JOC, Major General Pavle Arsoski, congratulated the unit’s day and emphasized that the brigade was well-equipped and trained for its mission and tasks, and for the numerous challenges faced in the past, to which it always responded successfully. He also noted that the period that follows is of exceptional importance for our successful accession and integration into NATO’s military structure, as well as equipping and modernizing military aviation.
Congratulations by the Army Chief of Staff and the JOC Commander were read to the lined up soldiers, and AB members who exceeded at work were given incentives and awards. The squadron for combat helicopters was named the best unit of the AB in the past year.
In the framework of the ceremony, a flight of aircrafts and an exhibition of material and technical assets owned by the unit was held.
The ceremony was attended by the Army Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, the Commander of the Joint Operations Command, Major General Pavle Arsoski, commanders of Army command and units, former commanders and members of the unit and other guests.
June 10, the day when the first flight was carried out with a military aircraft in ARM, is chosen to be the Day of Aviation Brigade. At the beginning this unit was composed of an aviation brigade with transport and combat helicopter squadron, then in 2005 it was transformed into a smaller, more compact unit called Airborne WING (Airborne Reconnaissance Assault Group) until 2012 when an Aviation Brigade was re-established as part of the JOC.
