Today, October 17 (Friday), in the barracks “Boro Menkov” in Kumanovo, there was a ceremony on the occasion of the Day of the Joint Operations Command (JOC) of ARM.
The ceremony was attended by Chief of General Staff of ARM (CGS) Lieutenant General Goranco Koteski, Deputy Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Nasser Sejdini, State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Saso Stefanovski, GS Director Major General Dimce Petrovski, representatives of the MoD and GS, former commanders of the JOC, retired ARM generals, representatives of the local governments and other guests.
General Koteski in his address, highlighted the contribution of the JOC in the twenty-two year development of ARM, with emphasis on the impeccable performance of duties by the members of the JOC as the largest operations command of the ARM. Chief of General Staff emphasized the role of the JOC in the transformation of the ARM, pointing out the efficiency in commanding, controlling and implementation of modern training with the personnel, concluding that the JOC paves the future of staff work in the ARM.
Professor Alexander Stojchev, who also addressed the guests, presented historical facts about the importance of Kresna (Macedonian) uprising and the establishment of the headquarters of the uprising on October 17.1878, as a day which starting from today, JOC celebrates as their holiday.
By decision of the President of the Republic of Macedonia and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Gjorgje Ivanov, PhD, October 17 is specified as a day of the Joint Operations Command, as the date which marks an important historical event, based on which, together with other important dates the history, the ARM traditions are founded on.
After the official part of the ceremony, the Chief of GS revealed the memorial – stamp of the Staff of the Macedonian Kresna Uprising and the audience had the opportunity to see other authentic artifacts from this period of Macedonian history.
