At the military barracks ‘Strasho Pindzur’ in Petrovec, a military ceremony was held to mark the handover of duty commander of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade (1st MIB) part of the Joint Operations Command (JOC). Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, current aide-de-camp to the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, received the duty commander of the 1st Mechanized infantry Brigade from Brigadier General Zoran Mileski.
In accordance with the military protocol rule, Commander of the JOC, the outgoing commander and the newly appointed commander of the 1st MIB gave ceremonial speeches.
Addressing the attendees of the ceremony, General Gjurchinovski expressed his gratitude to the former commander for his commitment and participation in building of the 1st MIB into a highly professional and prestigious component of the army, always ready to address all the given tasks, highlighting the engagement at the South border in support of the Border Police, as well as dealing with the consequences from the floods in Skopje region.
He congratulated the newly appointed commander for the new post and expressed his belief in his wise and skillful management of the unit, successful dealing with the threats and challenges to the security and sovereignty of Republic of Macedonia.
Brigadier General Mileski expressed his satisfaction with the results achieved by the unit. He also thanked unit members for the effort, dedication and engagement in building the combat readiness of the brigade.
The newly appointed commander, Brigadier General Gjorgoski pointed out he was honored and pleased with the given authority to command with the strongest and largest combat unit of the ARM, and he stated that members of the 1st MIB will continue to successfully perform the most sacred duty, protection of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Republic of Macedonia. He paid tribute to the former commander for his leadership, skillful commanding and sharing his experience with the younger generations.
At the end of the military ceremony there was an official handover of duty, commander of the 1st MIB, and of the brigade’s military flag.
By presidential decree, Brigadier General Zoran Mileski is appointed Commander of the Joint Operations Command.
The ceremony was attended by: Deputy Chief of the ARM General Staff Major General Muhamet Racaj, Commander of the Joint Operations Command (JOC) Major Genaral Vasko Gjurchinovski, representatives from the ARM General Staff, former brigade commanders, commanders of the subordinate units and other guests.
The 1st MIB, part of the JOC is the largest combat unit of the ARM, which provides forces for protection and support of national interests, and also gives support in case of natural disasters, epidemics and other risks.
