The live-firing tactical exercise “Reinforced Mechanized Infantry Battalion Attack” conducted at the training area “Krivolak” has demonstrated the high level of capability and training of the service personnel of the Army of the Republic of Macedonia carrying out assault operations of larger joint units of ARM.
The manner in which the rules and procedures of the combat tasks were carried out, in complex theatre conditions using enormous fire power, had shown the readiness of ARM to accomplish its constitutional mission to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, as well as to face all the challenges as part of NATO–led operations.
This has also been highlighted by the President of the Republic of Macedonia and the Supreme Commander of ARM, Gjorge Ivanov in his speech addressing the ARM members, who took part in the exercise.
The Supreme Commander, among other things, also commended the participants for their professional conduct, high motivation, demonstrated skills and capabilities during the impeccable conduct of the exercise, as well as for the evaluation of the exercise ”Macedonian Flash-13”, and all other deployments of ARM service personnel in dealing with natural disasters.
The Commander of 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade Commander (1st MIBde), Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski in his press statements expressed his impressions from today’s activities and the presented interoperability of the declared units which were in accordance with NATO standards.
During the live-firing tactical exercise more than 800 ARM members from the 1st MIBde participated, comprising one mechanized infantry battalion reinforced with soldiers from other units from the brigade, and units from the Special Operations Regiment and the Air Force Brigade. In accordance with the scenario of the exercise, they demonstrated synchronized activities when dealing with a terrorist group using different artillery weapons and Mi-17 helicopters, forcing the enemy to retreat, infiltrating Special Forces teams to neutralize important military leaders, evacuation of injured soldiers and other activities.
The units which took part in today’s exercise are part of the Medium Infantry Battalion Group, which have just finished Operational Capabilities Concept NATO level 2 reevaluation, and with certainty the expected feedback, according to what has been demonstrated by the units, will be satisfactory.
The exercise was attended by the highest military officials, the President of the Republic of Macedonia and the Supreme Commander of the Army, Gjorge Ivanov, the Minister of Defence, Radmila Shekerinska, the Chief of General Staff of ARM, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski, as well as other ARM generals, former generals, commanders of ARM units, association of military attachés, the NATO Advisory team and other guests.
In the year when the Army of the Republic of Macedonia is celebrating its 25 anniversary, among many other planned domestic and international exercises and participation in peacekeeping missions, ARM is still present at the southern border overlooking the situation with the emigrants, and as always its units will be ready to give assistance in case of natural disasters.
