The President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, together with the Minister of Defense, Vlado Misajlovski, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, held a traditional meeting with retired generals and former Chiefs of the General Staff of the Army.
At the meeting, which took place at the Army House in Skopje, General Lafchiski briefed the retired generals on the Army’s key activities in 2025, highlighting the process of modernization, training and exercises, as well as the support the Army provided to civilian institutions in the country.
In anticipation of the activities planned for the upcoming year, General Lafchiski stated that the Army will continue its participation in international missions led by NATO, the EU, and the UN, and that, within the framework of the Army’s modernization process, a large portion of the planned equipment and assets are expected to arrive in the country next year. Additionally, as a key priority for the upcoming year, General Lafchiski identified the evaluation of the combat readiness of the Light Infantry Battalion Group, which will be conducted during the exercise “Flash 26”.
As part of today’s meeting, a ceremony was also held marking the retirement of the former Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, who served in this position for two consecutive terms from 18 August 2018 to 18 August 2024.
In addition to President Siljanovska-Davkova, Minister Misajlovski, and the Chief of the General Staff, Major General Sashko Lafchiski, the meeting was attended by other generals of the Army as well as some of the senior officials from the Ministry of Defense and the President’s Cabinet.
