As part of the activities in Vermont that marked the 30-year partnership with the National Guard of this US federal state, organized by the Governor of Vermont, Phil Scott, the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski participated in the signing of the document which continues and deepens this three-decade long cooperation.
In the Vermont State House, by signing the document, the Governor Phil Scott, General Gjurcinovski, the Defense Minister Slavjanka Petrovska and the Commander of the Vermont National Guard, Major General Gregory Knight marked the three-decade partnership and confirmed the intentions for further deepening and new forms of cooperation.
In his address, the Governor of Vermont, Scott emphasized that “over the years, our armies have cooperated a lot – with exercises in North Macedonia and the USA, while one of the biggest successes includes North Macedonia’s membership in NATO as the 30th Ally”.
Minister Petrovska thanked General Knight and General Gjurchinovski and their predecessors for their dedication in the development of this partnership, and acknowledged all members of the Army and the National Guard for their professionalism, dedication and commitment that shaped the mutual partnership.
The Chief of General Staff, General Gjurchinovski thanked for the 30 years of support from Vermont and added that the Army is fully committed to an even stronger development of cooperation and togetherness with the National Guard.
During his stay in Burlington, General Gjurchinovski had a meeting with the personnel from the CBRN Company who was being trained by Vermont NG colleagues to find and remove hazardous materials. During the meeting, he told them to pass on the acquired knowledge and experience to their colleagues after returning home.
