The Chief of General Staff of ARM Lieutenant General Goranco Koteski is part of the seventeenth Conference of the Chiefs of Staff of the armed forces of the member countries of the Adriatic Charter held from today until November 22 in Sarajevo, Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The conference is hosted by the Chief of Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Major General Anto Jelech, and in addition to the Chiefs of Staff of the armed forces of member countries of the Adriatic Charter (Macedonia, Albania, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro Montenegro) the conference is also attended by the Chief of Staff of the Army of Serbia, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Slovenia, the Deputy Commander of U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and the EUFOR Commander.
At the opening of the conference the Minister of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zekerijah Osmikj addressed the participants, and the main topic for the participants is “Post ISAF priorities in maintaining the capacity for collective defense.” The seventeenth meeting of the Chiefs of Staff of the armed forces of member countries of the Adriatic Charter discussed experiences and lessons learned from participation in international missions led by NATO, planning of training and exercises in order to prepare for post between ISAF period as well as the regional approach to the defense of the airspace.
After the working session of the conference, the chiefs of staff of the armies of the member countries of the Adriatic Charter signed a joint statement confirming future cooperation within the regional initiative supported by the U.S., as well as the readiness for capacity development training for the purpose of participation in future NATO-led operations.
