“The Army of Republic of Macedonia has continuously, with full capacity and active support, worked on the process of reforms, fully contributing to the efforts to meet Republic of Macedonia’s top priority – ‘NATO integration”, pointed out the Chief of the ARM General Staff, Lieutenant General Metodija Velichkovski in his address at the 20th Conference of the army chiefs of staff of countries-members of the US Adriatic Charter (A-5), which was held today in Split, Republic of Croatia.
Main subject of discussion at the Conference was: ‘Improvement of the interoperability and joint effort towards partnership aims/ possibilities through combined training and exercise’.
During the conference, the CGS of the ARM had several meetings with his colleagues from the A5, as well as official bilateral talks with the deputy commander of the United States European Command, Lieutenant General Timothy Ray and with the commander of the Kosovo security force, Lieutenant General Rahman Rama.
The Conference was attended by the army chiefs of general staff of countries-members of the US Adriatic Charter (Macedonia, Croatia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Monte Negro), deputy commander of the United States European Command, deputy commander of Allied Joint Force Command in Naples, National Guard commanders of US states partners to the A-5 countries, as well as the CGS of Republic of Slovenia and the commander of the Kosovo Security Force, as observers.
Army of Republic of Macedonia with 17 cycles of action plans for membership and its active participation in the NATO-led missions and international exercises, acts and carries out activities as full member of the alliance, thus repeatedly confirming its dedication to the foundation principles of the US Adriatic Charter signed in Tirana, in May 2003, which are the following: stabilization, prosperity and North-Atlantic integration of the countries in the region.
Last year Republic of Macedonia was the host to the 19th Conference of the Army Chiefs of Staff of Countries-Members of the US Adriatic Charter (A-5).
