In the presence of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Stevo Pendarovski, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, at the Military Academy “General Mihailo Apostoloski” in Skopje a military ceremony was held on the occasion of promotion in the rank of lieutenant, as well as a solemn oath of the newly recruited cadets and trainees for the needs of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia.
42 cadets of the 19th class were promoted in the rank of lieutenant, 30 of whom for the Macedonian Army, four for the armed forces of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. The solemn oath was given by 28 cadets, from the 23rd class of the Military Academy, and 31 trainees for the needs of the services in the Macedonian Army.
President Pendarovski, addressing the cadets who begin military education, said: “By choosing the service in the Army you have chosen a noble profession. During your studies you will not only have the opportunity to learn about modern concepts of defence, but also to affirm the high ethical and human values necessary for any leader with integrity and honour.”
At the same time, congratulating the newly promoted lieutenants on their promotion, he said that they should embrace their responsibility in a suitable manner for a NATO member state. “I expect you to bring new energy, and new knowledge to the structures of the army and by transferring your knowledge to contribute to strengthening the combat readiness and morale of the Army,” the President said.
During the ceremony, the three first ranked cadets Bojana Jovanova, Jovan Iliev and Filip Lazov were given appropriate awards by the President Pendarovski, General Gjurchinovski and Deputy Minister of Defence, Bekim Maksuti, for their remarkable achievements with the grades between 9.4 to 9.6.
In addition to President Pendarovski, General Gjurcinovski, Deputy Defence Minister Maksuti, Army generals, State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Dragan Nikolic, Ambassador and State Secretary of the MoD of Montenegro, representatives of the military and diplomatic corps, Army commanders, families and relatives of cadets and other guests were also present at the ceremony.
The cadets from the 19th class who completed a four-year military education first-cycle study at the Military Academy “Mihailo Apostolski” are among the top classes judging by the grades, and 10 of them are female. After their promotion they will begin developing their military careers, according to the branches they belong to in the units of the Army throughout the Republic.
