Today, 12 September 2025, the Deputy Chief of Army General Staff, Major General Azim Nuredin, attended a ceremony marking the change of command of NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Italy (NRDC-ITA).
At the ceremony, which took place at the “Ugo Mara” barracks in Solbiate Olona, Italy, Lieutenant General Lorenzo D’Addario handed over command of the multinational headquarters to Lieutenant General Gianluca Carai, whose previous assignment was at the UK-led NATO Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC).
During his visit, General Nuredin had meetings with multiple representatives of the NRDC-ITA, where he received appreciation for the commitment and support our Army and country provide as NATO member.
NRDC-ITA, where Italy is the leading nation, is a highly trained multinational command which is designed for rapid deployment as a Corps Command, Land Component Command or Command of Joint Task Forces designed to carry out joint operations led by NATO, the European Union or a “joint forces” coalition. Our Army participates in the NRDC-ITA with one Staff Officer.
