The military orchestra, part of the Honour Guard Battalion, is a unique professional brass orchestra of this type in the country, whose mission is to participate in significant protocol activities and military ceremonies organized by the Army and at important state institutions.
The beginnings of the Military orchestra date back to 1944, when in the village of Golesh, near Bitola the first Military orchestra was formed as part of the 7th Macedonian strike brigade. In the next 48 years it existed in the ex-JNA as part of the 3rd army area in Skopje and it grew into a large brass orchestra and a representative segment of the Army.
The Military orchestra of the Army continues to cherish the traditions and develop the music. Through continuous civil-military cooperation with the local governments numerous concerts throughout the cities in the Republic, as well as individual concerts in Skopje have been organized. In 2016 the Military orchestra performed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Bulgaria, continuing to honorably perform its activities internationally.
The orchestra plays various music genres, from renowned domestic and foreign authors, such as: classical music, pop music, marches and other different types of music.
