The Sergeant Major of the Army, Sergeant Major Goran Kjirkovikj, participated in the 21st International Command Senior Enlisted Leaders Conference (SCEL), held from May 26 to 30 2025 in Lisbon, Portugal.
Sergeant Major Kjirkovikj was one of 150 sergeant majors from 28 NATO member states and partners. The conference served as a platform for exchanging information, strengthening cooperation and improving interoperability between the NCO corps of the Alliance and its partners.
The central themes of this year’s conference included the professional development of NCOs, troop readiness, and modern training methodologies. Participants also had the opportunity to receive updated strategic information from NATO’s Allied Command Operations (ACO) and Allied Command Transformation (ACT) through several briefings, which ensured an understanding of the evolving security environment and the role of NCOs in it.
The participation of the Sergeant Major of the Army reinforced the continued commitment of the Army to NATO standards and partnerships, as well as the vital role of NCOs in contributing to the readiness and effectiveness of the armed forces.
