Today, in the barracks Ilinden-Skopje, members of the Signals Battalion marked the Day of the Unit, 21st October.
The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Besnik Emini, representatives from the General Staff of the Army, the Operations Command, other commands and units in the Army, as well as former commanders of the Signals Regiment and Battalion.
In his address, the commander of the Signals Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Hristov, referred to the tradition of the battalion, which is the successor of the transformed Signals Regiment, emphasizing the importance of the unit in providing communication and information support to commands and units in the Army. He pointed out that in modern times, mastery of information is of utmost importance and hence the battalion works under the motto “INFORMATION IS POWER”.
The Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Besnik Emini, in his address, emphasized the significance and importance of the Signals Battalion in the functioning of the Army commands and units and that the battalion has a significant place and role in building the capacities and capabilities of the Army.
Within the Unit Day celebration, several activities were carried out, including a blood donation campaign in cooperation with the General Hospital “8th of September” in Skopje, a humanitarian campaign with a donation of food and toiletries to socially endangered families in the municipality Sopishte, as well as sports competitions.
On the occasion of the Unit Day, numerous congratulations were received and incentive measures were awarded by the Army’s Chief of the General Staff, the Commander of the Operations Command and the Commander of the Signals Battalion.
