The Day of the Army – 18th August was solemnly and with dignity marked by our members, representatives of MAKKON-10 in peacekeeping mission ‘Resolute Support’ in Kabul, Afghanistan.
The formal dinner, organized for the occasion by our representatives, was attended by TAAC Capital Commander, Brigadier General Yasar Dilber, Commander of Hamid Karzai International Airport, Brigadier General Hasan Hüseyin Kanbur, as well as US and Turkey high representatives of the Command, where our representatives successfully perform their staff duties.
On that occasion, the Highest National Representative of the Macedonian contingent, Colonel Gjorgji Mitrinovski held a speech. Emphasizing the importance of this holiday for the Army and the country, he pointed out his strong belief that the representatives of MAKKON-10 will continue to successfully perform their duties, consistently and dedicatedly as their predecessors.
“The Republic of North Macedonia stood strong with its decision to participate in the mission ‘Resolute Support’ in Afghanistan and together with other coalition partners to secure peace, stability and freedom for the Afghan people”, said, among other things Colonel Mitrinovski.
In his address, congratulating on the holiday, Brigadier General Dilber stressed his satisfaction with the contribution by the staff officers of the Army of Republic of North Macedonia in their work at the TAAC Capital Command.
At the same time, on the occasion of the Day of the Army, our representatives successfully organized and realized a sport event – relay race. Representatives of 12 nations stationed at the base at Hamid Karzai International Airport, as well as a team of Macedonian contractors participated in the race.
“Sport brings people together everywhere, every time and in every situation. We are here together, representatives of all countries, to strengthen our friendship and through sport, to make the celebration of our holiday even greater”, stated in his address Colonel Gjorgji Mitrinovski.
In a fair competition in relay race 4 X 1.2 km Portugal team won the first place, second place were the representatives of the UK, and third place fell to Denmark. The Peacekeepers – sportsmen from these countries were awarded vouchers, medals and certificates of gratitude for winning the first three places in the race.
