In the period from 13 to 14 May 2014 in Potsdam, Germany the commander of the Joint Operations Command, Major General Metodija Velichkovski participated in a conference for the commanders and directors of the joint operations commands of the countries participating in the ISAF Northern Command in Afghanistan.
During the conference held under the motto: “Working together for the future of Afghanistan “the host -the commander of the Bundeswehr Operations Command Lieutenant General Hans-Werner Fritz, informed the participants about further plans for redeployment of forces in the current ISAF Northern Command as well as about the and planned activities for the mission “Decisive Support” in 2015.
At the conference the estimates of the security situation in Afghanistan and the needs and further planning of the operations were presented at the same time pointing out that the success of the mission depends on the balanced contribution of the countries participating in the mission, as well as regular coordination in further actions.
At the end of the conference it was concluded that a common purpose and basis for further planning is the support and training of the Afghan security forces in taking full responsibility, and the Allies would have an advisory role.
