In the period from 12 to 14 May 2015 in the Engineer Battalion (Eng Bn) from the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade (1st MIBde), there was a course conducted by the representatives from the Marine Corps of the Army of the United States (US) from Black Sea Rotating Forces named” Course for integrated engineering engagement”.
Besides members of the Engineer Battalion, the course was attended by the officer for bilateral cooperation, operations coordinator for the Office of Bilateral Cooperation of the US Embassy in Macedonia and engineer officer from 1st MIBde.
The course for integrated engineering engagement was divided in two parts – theoretical and practical lessons. Its aim was to introduce the methods and procedures of combat engineer units for blocking, identification and search of routes for explosive means (EOD), their labeling and destruction.
The participants got acquainted with the types of mine searching devices, several types of special vehicles and robots used by the US armed forces to find and destroy EOD. The experience of the lecturers gained in combat activities in Iraq and Afghanistan thoroughly transferred during the course was very helpful for its successful completion.
