In the period from 22 to 23 December 2025, at the Jane Sandanski Barracks in Shtip, in the framework of planned activities and bilateral cooperation with the United States Armed Forces, a training course on the topic International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law was conducted as part of the “Mandatory Human Rights Training” program.
The training was delivered by representatives of the Institute for Defense and International Legal Studies from the United States.
The personnel of the 2nd Infantry Battalion, part of the 1st Infantry Brigade, had the opportunity -through expert lectures, analysis of practical examples, and interactive discussions – to become familiar with the fundamental principles of international human rights law, the protection of human dignity, as well as the basic rules and principles of international humanitarian law. Particular emphasis was placed on the protection of the civilian population and on the principles of distinction, proportionality, and military necessity.
Upon completion of the training, certificates were awarded to the participants.
Through the implementation of such activities in the Army, contributions are made to strengthening professional capacities and to enhancing respect for human rights and the norms of international humanitarian law.
