In the barracks Jane Sandanski – Shtip, the members of the 2nd Infantry Battalion (2nd InfBn) within the 1st Infantry Brigade (1st InfBde) marked the Unit’s Day with a military ceremony on September 17. On this day the 14th Macedonian Youth People’s Liberation Brigade was formed in the village of Mitrashinci, near Berovo.
On the occasion of celebrating the Unit’s Day, delegations from the superior command, the unit and the families of the fallen members laid fresh flowers in front of the memorial “Macedonia” at the entrance of the barracks.
The ceremony was attended by: the Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier General Besnik Emini, the Commander of the 1st InfBde, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski together with some of the brigade’s command and staff personnel, former commanders and members of the unit, representatives from the local self-government, heads of public institutions and other guests.
The Commander of the 2nd InfBn, Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Sumrachki, addressed the historical path of the 14th Macedonian Youth People’s Liberation Brigade and the challenges that the unit successfully dealt with in the past. The unit will continue with the same pace in the future, implementing the assigned tasks to achieve the set norms.
In his address, the Commander of the 1st InfBde, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski said: “I congratulate you on the Day of the Unit and I acknowledge everything you have achieved in the past when conducting assignments and missions abroad, together with other partners and NATO allies. I have no doubt that you will continue to do so in the future, as a first unit in the Army to meet the required objectives to conduct assignments according to NATO standards”.
On the occasion of the Unit’s Day, the second platoon of the 1st Infantry Company was declared the best platoon, and was presented with a cup and a flag for the best unit. Incentive measures were also read at the ceremony, and certificates of appreciation were awarded to the institutions with which the unit had successful cooperation when conducting work assignments and obligations.
