On the occasion of the Day of the Engineer Battalion (EngBn), within the Operations Command (OC), a military ceremony was held in the barracks “Ilinden” in Skopje today.
The ceremony was attended by: OC Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, representatives from the OC, active and retired generals of the Army, commanders and officers of units and former commanders and members of the Engineer Regiment and the Engineer Battalion.
Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, in his speech, first emphasized that it is a special honor and pleasure to speak in the name of the commander of the OC and in his name to greet the present audience and to congratulate them on the Day of the Unit. In the year when the jubilee “30 years since the Army establishment” is being celebrated, he reminded that the EngBn was declared the best battalion within the OC in the previous year. He thanked and acknowledged the generations of soldiers and officers – engineers, who passed on their knowledge and skills to the younger ones in the past 30 years, and whose successors are lined up today. The Operations Command, as has done so far, will support and follow the path to success of EngBn, since it raises the Army reputation among the citizens of our country.
The commander of the Engineer Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Ilcho Zakovski, pointed out that celebrating the Day of the Engineer Battalion, the feeling of respect and pride when addressing the lined up solders is great, because what has been achieved and done so far is great. The everlasting deeds of the engineers speak for themselves, and all its members who work hard, dedicatedly and professionally deserve a credit.
“Today, when we mark the 78th Anniversary of the establishment of the Engineer Brigade within the People’s Liberation Army General Staff and the partisan detachments of Macedonia, whose traditions are borne by Engineer Battalion. The mission was and remains the same – to defend and build our country, preserve its independence and freedom with all means” – added Lieutenant Colonel Zakovski.
The ceremony ended with congratulations on the occasion of the Day of the Unit, and reading promotion orders and incentive measures for the achieved results and raising the combat readiness.
The members of the unit carried out a blood donation action in cooperation with the Red Cross and GH “8 September” on 04.11.2022, as part of the celebration.
