Today, at the military barracks Ilinden, the service personnel of the Military Police Battalion celebrated the 29 October – the Day of the Military Police Battalion (MPBn) with a military ceremony.
The Commander of the Operations Command (OC), Brigadier General Besnik Emini, addressed the service personnel and expressed his confidence in the Military Police Battalion that the Unit will continue to work with utmost dedication, professionally and effectively. Moreover, he added that “together we will be more successful and on top while accomplishing the upcoming assignments.”
The Chief of Staff and at the same time the Deputy Commander of MPBn, Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Stankovski, also addressed the service personnel saying that the type of mission and assignments the Military Police personnel do, don’t allow improvisation and selectivity, which confirms how serious and confidential their tasks are. “We are proud to celebrate our predecessors, and by accomplishing the mission of the Unit we confirm that we have been building up a modern unit which is recognized by domestic and foreign partners because we are continuously commended and acknowledged.”
At the official ceremony celebrating the Day of the Unit, congratulation letters were read, including orders for incentive measures.
There were many guests at the ceremony including, the Commander of the Operations Command, Brigadier general Besnik Emini, the Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Sashko Lafchiski, the Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command, Colonel Vasko Kokolanski, commanders of other units in the Army, former commanders of the Unit and former service personnel of the Military Police, representatives from the Ministry of Interior, and other guests.
The Military Police Battalion has been carrying on the tradition since the 29 October, 1878. On that day, during the Macedonian-Kresna uprising, there had been a written order to establish Military Police headquarters in order to maintain law and order in the liberated territories of Macedonia, which in the essence is the basic function of Military Police.
There were a few other activities as part of the celebration of the Day of the Unit, including humanitarian actions, such as, food donation in the High School “Brakja Miladinovci” in Kumanovo, and blood donation in the City General Hospital “8th of Septemvi” in Skopje.
