Today, with a military ceremony in the barracks “Boro Menkov” in Kumanovo, the members of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion (1st MIBn) from the 1st MIBde marked the day of the unit “February 26th ” – the day when in 1944 in the village of Zhegljane, Kumanovo the 3rd MNLBde (Macedonian National Liberation Brigade) was formed.
The ceremony was attended by the JOC Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Orce Jordev, Commander of the 1st MIBde, Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, representatives from the JOC, commanders of battalions of the 1st MIBn, the former commanders of 1st MIBn, members of the WWII Association from Kumanovo, local self-government, civic associations and organizations with which 1st MIBn has long-standing cooperation.
At the ceremony on the occasion of the 1st MIBn Day, the commander of the 1st MIBde, Brigadier General Mirce Gjorgoski and the Commander of 1st MIBn, Lieutenant Colonel Stojanche Kostov addressed the guests with a speech.
After the solemn speeches on the historical path of the 3rd MNLBde, the work and achievements of the members of 1st MIBn in the training, everyday activities, in peace support operations outside the country, participation in international exercises and future activities of the battalion were emphasized. The first platoon of the third mechanized infantry company was proclaimed the best unit in the battalion for 2018. In the end, members of the 1st MIBn performed a solemn parade.
On the occasion of the Day of the Battalion, a certain number of professional soldiers, NCOs and battalion officers who excelled in work and training, and thus contributed to the strengthening of the combat readiness of the unit, were promoted, rewarded and commended.
Within the marking of the day of the unit, the members of 1st MIBn realized several activities in the past days from which we highlight the blood donating action in cooperation with the Red Cross and the humanitarian donation in clothing, food and personal hygiene products for the children of the orphanage in Kumanovo.
