On September 17, 2025, in the barracks “Jane Sandanski” – Shtip, the members of the 2nd Infantry Battalion (2nd IBn) within the 1st Infantry Brigade (1st IBde) with a military ceremony celebrated “September 17 – Day of the 2nd Infantry Battalion”, the day when the 14th Macedonian Youth People’s Liberation Brigade was formed in the village of Mitrashinci, near Berovo.
The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Operations Command (OC), Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, the Commander of the 1st IBde, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski with representatives of the personnel in the command and the staff of the brigade, former commanders and members of the unit, representatives of the local self-government, heads of public institutions and other guests.
On the occasion of celebrating the Day of the Unit, delegations from the command, the unit and members of the families of the fallen members laid fresh flowers in front of the “Macedonia” memorial at the entrance to the barracks.
The Commander of the 2nd IBn, Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Sumrachki, addressed the formation, referring to the historical path of the 14th Macedonian Youth People’s Liberation Brigade and the challenges that the unit successfully dealt with in the past period, and that it will continue at the same pace of implementing the assigned tasks to meet the set norms.
The Commander of the 1st IBde, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski also held a speech at the ceremony, who among other things said, “You are the ones who have participated in all self-assessments and NATO assessments in the past years. Since the beginning of the year until now, you have successfully implemented the exercises “Seven Stars”, “Immediate Response” and “Saber Junction 25”. All of you together are the second infantry battalion. You know the best that the military profession is difficult and risky, it requires many sacrifices, but on the other hand, it is noble and dignified. You, as the core of the Light Infantry Battalion Group, and together with parts of the other units of the brigade, will be the bearers of the preparations for the assessment of the combat readiness. Then, in April next year, all of us, healthy and alive, will carry out the exercise “Flash 26″ at ATA Krivolak. That will be the crown of your sacrifice and dedication, thus proving once again that we are at the same level with the other NATO allies and that we are combat ready.”
On the occasion of the celebration of the Day of the Unit in the barracks “Jane Sandanski” in Shtip, and in cooperation with the Red Cross and the Department of Transfusiology, a voluntary blood donation was carried out where 60 blood units were donated.
On the occasion of the Day of the Unit, the first platoon from the third infantry company was declared the best platoon and was awarded a cup and a flag for the best unit. Incentive measures were also read, and the institutions with which the unit had successful cooperation in carrying out its duties and tasks received certificates of appreciation.
