On November 13 (Thursday) at the barracks “Ilinden” in Skopje, there was a ceremony on the occasion of the day of Engineers Battalion (ENGRBN) part of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade (1st MIB) and seventy years of formation of the Engineers Brigade as part of the General Staff of National Liberation Army.
Beside the commander of the Joint Operations Command (JOC) Major General Methodija Velichkovski the ceremony was attended by: Director of General Staff Major General Dimche Petrovski, Deputy Commander of the Joint Operations Command Brigadier General Muhamet Racaj, Chief of Staff of the Joint Operations Command, Brigadier General Stojan Dimchov, Commander of the 1st MIB Brigadier General Pavle Arsoski, commander of the Special Operations Regiment Brigadier General Vasko Gjurchinovski, representatives of the Association of WWII Veterans, commanders of brigades and battalions of ARM, former commanders and members of the unit, as well as representatives from local government, public and private companies and other guests.
By decision of the President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces November 13 is the day of the unit, continuing the tradition of Engineers Brigade within the General Staff of National Liberation Army and Macedonian Partisans Brigade .
The guests were addressed by the commander of the 1st MIB Brigadier General Pavle Arsoski, and the commander of the Engineers Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Dejan Chiplakovski. They gave a brief overview of the historical development of Engineers Battalion built on the foundation of the famous Engineers Brigade. The commander took pride in the results achieved by the members of the unit, recognized for valuable work and sacrificing, always prepared and trained to help.
A congratulation message from the Chief of General Staff to the members of the battalion was read at the ceremony and incentives were given on this occasion.
The ceremony ended with a presentation of Engineers machinery, official handing of plaques and watches to the former commanders of Engineers units. There was an official opening of the “Builder’s path of lasting values” in the barracks Ilinden.
Earlier on this occasion, the Engineers Battalion implemented series of activities to mark this important anniversary.
On 06.11.2014, representatives from the command and subordinate units of Engineers Battalion visited the “Museum of the Macedonian Struggle for Statehood and Independence.” On 11.10.2014, the Engineers Battalion organized humanitarian and charitable action donating clothes and children’s accessories to the orphanage “11 October”, Skopje. On 11.11.2014, a meeting was held between representatives of WWII Veterans Association and Engineers Battalion service personnel.
