Today, a military ceremony was held to mark 13 November, the Day of the Engineer Battalion (EngBn), part of the 1st Infantry Brigade (1st IBde).
On the occasion of the day of the unit, the Commander of the 1st IBde, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski, and the Commander of the EngBn, Lieutenant Colonel Laste Gjorgjiev gave speeches.
In his address, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski first welcomed the attending guests, after which he spoke about the role of the unit from its establishment until today. He also highlighted the unit’s participation in the exercises “Combined Resolve” and “Saber Junction” in Germany, as well as “Immediate Response” at the Army Training Area Krivolak. At the end of his address, the 1st IBde Commander stated: “Dear members of the Engineer Battalion, cherish and honor the only engineer unit in the Army, an institution that enjoys the highest trust among our citizens, and let your motto ‘Always Forward’ guide you.”
The Commander of the EngBn, Lieutenant Colonel Laste Gjorgjiev, emphasized that celebrating the Day of the Engineer Unit brings a deep sense of respect and pride when addressing the formation, because the achievements and completed tasks are significant. He noted: “Today, as we mark 81 years since the establishment of the Engineer Brigade of the General Staff of the National Liberation Army and Partisan Units of Macedonia, this day brings to life the events of our historical past, whose traditions are carried on by the Engineer Battalion. The mission remains unchanged – to defend and build the country and to preserve its independence and freedom with all our strength and means. The Engineer Battalion will continue to create, build, and protect the homeland with wisdom, heart, and dedication.”
The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Operations Command (OC), Brigadier General Mirche Gjorgoski, the Commander of the 1st IBde, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski, representatives of the command and staff of the 1st IBde, retired Army generals, commanders of units, and former commanders and members of the Engineer Battalion.
On the occasion of the Day of the Unit, promotion orders and incentive measures were given for the achieved results in work and the enhancement of combat readiness. The best platoon was declared to be the route-clearance platoon of the 1st Combat Engineer Support Company, led by Second Lieutenant Marko Mladenov.
Former members of the EngBn were awarded plaques bearing the unit’s emblem, and a tactical-technical display of equipment and assets available to the unit was held. As part of the celebration, members of the battalion, in cooperation with the Red Cross, organized a blood donation campaign.
