On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the helicopter accident at Popova Shapka, on March 17, 2026, members of the Air Force VING paid tribute to Staff Sergeant First Class Dragancho Ilievski (Chonto), who lost his life in this tragic event.
The ceremony began with a one-minute silence, followed by the laying of fresh flowers at the memorial by members of the AF VING and the family of the fallen serviceman.
In front of the Helicopter Squadron Command, a commemorative speech was delivered in his honor, and members of the unit respectfully recalled his bravery and dedication to military service.
This tragic event is a reminder of the courage and dedication of the AF VING service personnel, as well as the lasting memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the well-being of the state.
