At the “Jane Sandanski” barracks in Shtip, with a military ceremony, the members of the 2nd Infantry Battalion and other units from the barracks marked April 22nd, the patron day of the barracks.
The ceremony started with laying fresh flowers and paying tribute to the great Macedonian revolutionary leader Jane Sandanski. This year marks the 110th anniversary of the death of Jane Sandanski. The military barracks in Shtip got the name “Jane Sandanski” when the Army was founded.
A commemorative speech was delivered by the commander of the 2nd Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Sumracki, who reflected on the character and legacy of Jane Sandanski, emphasizing that by marking this day each year, we contribute to keeping his name and deeds alive in the memories of future generations.
The ceremony was attended by the Commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Dejan Chiplakovski, representatives from the Shtip Sector for Internal Affairs (SIA-Shtip), the Veterans’ Association of Shtip, representatives from the 4th SFAB (4th Security Force Assistance Brigade) of the U.S. Armed Forces, mayors of the municipalities in the region, representatives from primary and secondary schools in Shtip, and other guests.
The ceremony was enriched by a recital on the life and work of Jane Sandanski, performed by students from the Educational Center “Dora’s House” under the mentorship of Elena Miteva. The event also featured musical melodies by the “Shtipjani” choir and instrumental compositions by students from the Secondary Music School “Sergej Mihajlov” in Shtip.
