On 12th November 2013, the NATO Advisory Team-Skopje, led by Colonel Aleksandar Aleksandrov, visited the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade (1st MIB) at “Strasho Pindjur” Barracks in Petrovec.
The members of the NATO Advisory Team were welcomed by the Deputy Commander of the 1st MIB, Colonel Velin Stojanovski and the brigade staff sections officers. The Staff personnel gave a briefing to the team about the brigade’s mission, main tasks, structure of the unit and the current number of service personnel. There was also a discussion about the procedures for giving aid to other security and civilian departments and future challenges for the brigade. The NATO team likewise presented its mission, structure and the main activities of the team: give advice and support, represent NATO and assist in the development of all important defense and security documents.
Later on, the NATO Advisory Team had a chance to visit the NATO HQ located at Petrovec and they were given a live demonstration “Taking a sample COLPRO” by the NBC Company.
At the end of their visit the members of the NATO Advisory Team expressed words of praise for the brigade`s achievements and recommended that the successful contribution ARM has provided so far continue, aiding the Republic of Macedonia on its way to becoming a NATO member.
