Members of the combat reconnaissance company within the Reconnaissance and Intelligence Battalion conducted a two-week alpine climbing training at the Alpine Training Range “Matka” where they demonstrated high level skills in climbing techniques and procedures in unreachable mountainous terrain.
The reconnaissance mountain platoon, a unit whose primary tasks is search, rescue and retrieving a casualty from hard-to-reach mountainous terrain, carried out the training in the most professional manner in accordance with the prescribed standards while respecting safety procedures.
The members of the platoon demonstrated their ability to conduct rapid orientation in unfamiliar terrain, advanced climbing skills, providing first medical assistance and transport of casualties which require a high level of physical fitness, teamwork and self-confidence.
Rangers have demonstrated their alpine mountain climbing skills many times before, in practical situations when performing joint activities with other professional services in the country during rescue and inaccessible terrains operations, as well as in joint exercise activities with the Allied armies.
