On October 31st, as part of the routine activities of the command of JOC, according to the Yearly Working Plan and the realized civil-military cooperation, professional military training of the key personnel from the Joint Operational Command (JOC) and the subordinate units was carried out at the facility of EVN Macedonia – the power plant ‘Matka’, which is situated at the foot of the rocky canyon of the river Treska, between the two monuments of culture, the monasteries “St. Andreas’ and ‘St Nicolas’. The administrator and the personnel responsible of the power plant Matka presented basic information and the history of the power plant, the process of production of electrical energy and the operation process, and above all they presented the importance of the facility to the energetic system and the defense of the country, in front of the Commander of JOC, Major General Metodija Velickovski and the other representatives of the JOC command and the subordinate units.
During this training, the old facility built in 1938, which at the time was the main source of electricity supply for the city of Skopje, was also visited. The electric hydro generators are unique of the type in the world, which are still functional and can be put to use if necessary.
