For the first time in modern history of the Army, Macedonian Special Forces together with their colleagues from the Hungarian Special Forces Command are carrying out coordinated special tasks on the territory of an allied country. The prerequisite for the execution of these exceptionally complex tasks lies in the excellent cooperation in the field of training, mutual coordination and the finalized planning process. Operation Cold Peak stands as a proof of the highest level of training, interoperability, mutual trust and cooperation between the special units in defense of the allies.
Today, 15 September 2025, in accordance with the bilateral cooperation plan between the Special Forces of the Army and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Hungary, part of the personnel of the Special Forces Battalion departed for Hungary, where until 19 September one portion of the international military exercise Operation Cold Peak 25 will be carried out. After receiving their assigned mission, the Macedonian special forces successfully deployed and began executing special tasks at training grounds in Hungary. At the same time, on Macedonian territory, part of the Hungarian special forces, after receiving their assigned mission, successfully deployed their forces and continued with the execution of planned tasks and activities.
According to the plan the exercise will be conducted simultaneously at ATA “Krivolak” and at army training areas in Hungary.
This exercise highlights the cooperation between the two allied armies at the special forces level, aiming at the exchange of knowledge and experience, the enhancement of interoperability among allied forces, and the strengthening of coordination during the execution of joint operations.
