The role of doctrine publications, as the foundation for rules, regulations, manuals and other documents concerning the Army, and their importance for standardization of the procedures in accordance with NATO standards, was emphasized at the beginning of the doctrines conference by the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski, who was in charge of the realization of the same.
During the conference which took place at the Centre for Simulations at the Training and Doctrines Command in Veles, the military personnel responsible for developing new doctrines according to NATO standards presented the current status, relevant NATO doctrines and publications, the timeframes as well as the goals and expectations for each doctrine for different strategic level.
The Chief of the NATO Liaison Office, Colonel Zoran Jankovikj addressed the participants of the conference and in his presentation he talked about the role of the Training and Doctrine Command in the process of transformation of the Army in terms of compatibility with NATO processes and structures. Brigadier General Robert Hugh Lloyd Johns, operational transformation advisor from the United Kingdom gave a briefing about Doctrines for the Land Forces.
The conference was attended by the Deputy Chief and the Director of General Staff, the Commander, the Deputy Commander and the Chief of Staff of the Operations Command, commanders of immediate subordinate commands, General Staff units and brigade level units, chiefs of sections in the General Staff as well as representatives of the Military Academy and the Ministry of Defence.
At the end of the conference General Gjurchinovski draw conclusions defining future tasks and activities concerning the process of planning and development aiming to enrich the Army with relevant, compatible and interoperable military documents in accordance with NATO standards.
