The activities of the exercise “Fast Lion-14” continue on 06.06.2014, with the participation of the Company for force protection of the European Union battle group (EUBG 2014-2).
During the day, the Company within the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade, in line with the exercise scenario, conducted activities in accordance with the mission essential tasks list within EUBG 2014-2 (found ammunition that has been lost and way of response, reception and escort of VIPs, requesting a meeting with senior officials, illegal taking photographs, etc.).
Headquarters’ staff within the Army, as a part of the command of EUBG 2014-2 and within their duties, continued to present the ability to cope with the challenges of operational planning, and thereby contribute to the successful certification of the EUBG Staff, which is the primary task of the exercise “Fast Lion-14”.
What should be especially emphasized is the remarkable reaction of the patrol within the Company in the real finding of a suspicious backpack near the base, which was destroyed with explosives by the demining team (EOD team) of the Belgian Army.
At the same time members of other participating countries (the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Germany and Belgium) gave their contribution and participated in the exercise by responding to various events and incidents.
During the next day exercise activities will continue, as well as the inspection of the battle group commander of all units participating in the exercise.
