During the official visit of Republic of Macedonia, today (September 5), the Speaker of Canada’s Senate Mr. Noel Kinsela visited the General Staff of the ARM, and was welcomed by the Chief of the General Staff of the ARM, Lieutenant General Gorancho Koteski.
At the General Staff Mr. Kinsela and his delegation from the Canada’s Senate had a meeting with representatives from the General Staff and ARM members who were a part of the last rotation of the ARM contingent in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
At the meeting, General Koteski expressed his gratitude to the high guest from Canada for the support that Republic of Macedonia enjoys from Canada on the road to a full membership in NATO, noting that in the last 15 years around 300 ARM members were educated in different training centers in Canada, estimating the inter-army cooperation with the Canadian Armed Forces as successful.
The Speaker Kinsela noted the meaning of the cooperation in the defense field with Republic of Macedonia, especially on the ARM participation in the peace keeping missions. He pointed out that the ARM members with their participation in the missions abroad earned high rating with the armies in the NATO alliance.
From the meetings was concluded that ARM should continue maintaining the NATO standards, and the achieved interoperability and operative capability will enhance its reputation on an international plan. The delegation from Canada expressed their readiness for further strengthening and widening of the bilateral support with the Armed Forces of Canada as well as the support for a full membership of Republic of Macedonia in NATO.
