Today, 29th October, in “Ilinden” barracks, Skopje the Day of the Military Police Battalion (MPBN) part of the Joint Operations Command (JOC) was celebrated with military ceremony, for the first time on this date.
By decision of the President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Gjorge Ivanov, 29th October is designated the Day of MPBN, as a date that marks an important historical event.
Military Police Battalion honours 29th October 1878 when during the Macedonian Uprising (Kresnensko) an order was issued to form a Military Police Force on the liberated territory of Macedonia, the first official military police force.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Muhamet Racaj, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations Command Brigadier General Pavle Arsoski, representatives of the General Staff and the Joint Operations Command, commanders of units from “Ilinden” barracks, representatives of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Macedonia, former commanders of units and representatives of organizations that cooperate with MPBN.
At the ceremony the commander of the MPBN Lieutenant Colonel Vasko Kokolanski addressed the audience with a short speech about the importance of this historic event from Macedonian history.
At the end of the ceremony there was a tactical-technical exposition of the weapons and equipment, as well as demonstration exercises where MPBN members showed readiness to handle difficult situations they face during fulfillment of their assignments.
As part of the activities to celebrate the 29th October day of Military Police blood donor and humanitarian actions were organized.
