Today 26.2.2015 (Thursday) at the barracks “Boro Menkov” in Kumanovo the members of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion (1st MIBn) marked the 26th of February, the Day of the Unit, with a military ceremony.
By decision of the President of the Republic of Macedonia and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, PhD Ivanov, the 26th of February is set as a day of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion, the date which marks a significant historical event associated with the date of establishment of the third Macedonian Assault Brigade, on which, along with other important dates in the history, ARM traditions are based upon.
The Commander of the 1st MIBn in his proper address gave a brief overview of the historical development of the 1st MIBn, which is an extension and fostering of the third Macedonian Assault Brigade traditions. He noted that the 1st MIBn members are proud of the achieved results, and they are recognizable for their valuable and devoted work, always prepared and trained to help.
The ceremony was attended by the ARM Deputy Chief of General Staff, the Deputy Commander of JOC, the Commander of the 1st MIBde, representatives of the Association of Fighters, Commanders of Brigades and Battalions within ARM, former Commanders and unit members, as well as representatives from the local self-government, public and private enterprises and other guests.
On the occasion of marking the 26th of February, the Day of the Unit, fresh flowers were laid by the ARM delegation before the memorial plaque in the village Zhegljane and before the bust of the national hero “Boro Menkov” in the barracks.
When the official part ended, the present guests were shown a part of the arms, equipment and vehicles available to the unit.
