Members of the Air Force brigade in the period from 23 June to 27 June 2014 carry out training in summer conditions at the Water Training Centre in Ohrid. The training is carried out according to the unit’s annual training plan.
The main objective of the training is to train the members of Air Force Brigade to overcome water obstacles and perform combat activities in bodies of water, gaining confidence and security when working in shallow and deep open water. In addition, they will be trained in safe diving from aircraft, giving first aid to a drowning person, working with non-motorized boats and working in a helicopter over water, safe diving and general improvement of fitness for such activities.
On 24 June 2014 the exercise “Saving water-distressed people and extraction by helicopter” is being carried out, whereby a Mi – 24V helicopter provided air combat security, while a Mi – 8/17 helicopter performed fast rope infiltration (Fast Rope) on a vessel and extraction and evacuation (CASEVAC) of injured persons.
The planned activities were carried out successfully and safely. A significant contribution to the realization of quality training was made by the flight crew of the Air Force Brigade. This was a lesson learned for the staff, given the fact that some of them were faced with the situation to realize this kind of training for the first time.
