In the period from 14th to 16th September 2021, the activity “Exchange of experiences in the field of Air Defence with very short-range missile systems” with the members of the Air Defence Battery and representatives of the United States Armed Forces was carried out at the barracks “Strasho Pindzur” in Petrovec.
The Air Defence Battery informed the members of the United States Armed Forces about the mission, tasks, equipment and organizational structure of the Air Defence Battery, about the previous participation in exercises, as well as about the future goals of the unit. They also performed a demonstration exercise with 1 Air Defence platoon in order to present the tactics, techniques and procedures while performing a given task.
The members of the United States Armed Forces held a presentation on the organizational structure of the Air Defence at a platoon, battery and battalion level, as well as a presentation on the way of certifying the crews serving the Air Defence systems in the US Armed Forces, a presentation on the types of threats they often face with, the equipment and the shooting principles they use, and also a presentation on how to deal with drones as a threat to the safety of their units.
At the end of the activity, they discussed the participation of part of the Air Defence Battery in international exercises, the completion of the basic training of “Stinger” of the key personnel, the delivery of literature in order to upgrade our knowledge on how to deal with drones as a threat to our own units, and the presence of the Air Defence Battery (in the role of observers) at live firing of the US Armed Forces with Air Defence systems. They also discussed the use of TA “Krivolak” by the Air Defence units of the US Armed Forces (a joint participation with the Air Defence Battery) in order to perform a tactical situational exercise with a possibility to carry out live firing with the “Stinger” systems.
